Fun and Competition Continues in A Fair Setting

In my previous post I made such a brief mention of some history of the Fort Bend Independent School District and a few of the successful Fort Bend ISD graduates.  There is always more to the stories and more to be said and that will come later.

How about a County Fair?  Coming up is Fort Bend County Fair Day, on Friday next week.

Fort Bend ISD has a school holiday scheduled for Friday, September 26th, as do the other School Districts in the County, to provide the time and opportunity for families to celebrate the start of the 78th Annual Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo.  As you would expect, youth education is a primary focus of Fair activities.  There are quite a few scholarships awarded annually from this event.

There is a Parade!  Friday morning, the 26th, starting at 9:00 in Historic Richmond and Rosenberg there could be as many as 200 entries in the parade to amaze you.  Student Fun Day is in the afternoon at the Fairgrounds, and the activities are nearly non-stop from then on.

The Fair provides opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities and compete in events ranging from the School Art Auction Program to FFA programs for the raising and exhibition of livestock.  I have seen some fabulous ribbon-winning art from the Fair’s School Art program.  And I still have proud memories of my daughter taking on the responsibility of raising and showing a pig in the County Fair’s competition.  I know many of you feel the same.

This is our County Fair.  Beginning Friday the 26th there are ten days of lively activities, things to do and things to see.  Everything you would expect from a County Fair from carnival rides, to rodeo arena action, BBQ cook-off, live music, livestock competition shows, shopping and more.  There could be 100 vendors offering their wares for sale and all of your favorite County Fair food.  Have you ever witnessed a serious Lawn Tractor Race?  That is just one of the many activities scheduled in the upcoming Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo.

Who knows the name of a World Famous Texas Singing Legend and the year he headlined the music performances at the Fort Bend County Fair early in his career?
